Message from the PTA Co-Presidents
Entering our last week of school, this will be the last PTA e-newsletter of the school year. 2017-18 was an exceptional year at Stratfield, filled with many of the PTA events our school community has come to expect each year, as well as several new programs that just might become new Stratfield traditions. Although the final numbers won’t be available until later this month for income and expenses, the Stratfield PTA budgeted well over $40,000 this year for curriculum enrichment, community building, and teacher/staff support. The PTA also raised more than $43,000 toward those and future expenses. Thank you to everyone who helped us raise these funds that provide countless opportunities for our students, staff, and community!
As our term as PTA Co-Presidents comes to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the members of the PTA Board of Directors for their time and effort this year. We are incredibly grateful for your contributions throughout the year and are so glad to have had the opportunity to volunteer with such a diverse group of creative, intelligent and committed individuals. Stratfield is lucky to have you! We would also like to thank each of the committee chairs and countless volunteers who devoted their energy to ensure that all of Stratfield's PTA programs were a success this year. Your generosity does not go unnoticed! We would also like to express our gratitude to Ms. McGoey, the teachers, the paras, and the staff members, who go above and beyond to ensure the best possible experience for our children while they are at Stratfield.
As we exit, Kristen Londoño and Dawn Svendsen take up the position of Co-Presidents on July 1. We can’t wait to support them in their tenure as Co-Presidents next year.

PTA Committees Need You!
Thank you to each of the volunteers who have coordinated the many PTA sponsored events and programs throughout the year and, in some cases, over the last several years!
Without the continued support of our committee chairs, the PTA would not be able to provide the valuable programs and fun events it brings to the school community each year.
As the school year comes to a close and planning begins for next year, the PTA is in real need of several committee chairs to coordinate some of the school's most loved programs and fundraisers.
Although we would prefer committee chair positions be held for a two-year commitment, we will consider one year commitments, in the hope that a shorter term might encourage new volunteers to take on one of these crucial roles.
Past chairs will be available to provide guidance, answer questions and assist when possible - please reach out to find out more!
If you are interested, please contact one of the VPs of Volunteers, Liane May or Jessica Goldberg who are happy to answer any and all questions.
The following committees need help next year to continue. Thank you and have a great summer!

A message just for the Tomlinson incoming 6th graders -
The Tomlinson Middle School PTA is pleased to announce that this fall’s author will be Jordan Sonnenblick. Jordan was conferred a Creative Writing award by his teacher Frank McCourt, the author of Pulitzer Prize-winning Angela’s Ashes. He began his career as an 8th grade English teacher and wrote his debut novel while trying to help a student cope with having a brother who was terminally ill. When he couldn’t find any appropriate teen novels, he wrote one. And he hasn’t stopped writing since then.
Jordan will be at TMS on October 4, 2018 and will be signing books for students who bring them. They are humorous with an empathetic undercurrent; below is a recommended list from Katie Lee, TMS librarian:
1. Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie (Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie #1)
2. After Ever After (Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie #2)
3. Zen and the Art of Faking It
4. Falling Over Sideways
5. Notes from the Midnight Driver
Books can be purchased on Amazon. Any questions, please contact Gina Moore!
Online Directory Information
Please be aware that as we close out the school year and get ready for next year, the PTA online directory will become inactive for a short period of time over the summer. If you think you will need to access the information after August 15, 2018, please go to the PTA website and sign in to your account to print the directory.
PTA Membership will open for the 2018-19 school year once school starts and a new directory will be available shortly thereafter. Please stay tuned for more information about how you can register and join the PTA to get access to the online directory next year.
Please contact Jennifer Ayers or Kristen Lundbye with any questions.
