What Does IDEA represent?

Groups Values:

By adopting these values, IDEA PTA committees can create a foundation for their work that promotes inclusivity, equity, and respect for all members of their school community.

  1. Diversity: We value and celebrate diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, and socioeconomic status. We recognize that diversity brings unique perspectives and experiences that enrich our communities.
  2. Equity: We believe in equity, ensuring that all members of our community have access to the same opportunities and resources. We acknowledge that there are systemic barriers that prevent some individuals from achieving their full potential, and we strive to identify and dismantle those barriers.
  3. Inclusion: We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. We aim to create safe spaces where individuals can express themselves without fear of judgment or discrimination.
  4. Respect: We respect and value the opinions, experiences, and backgrounds of all individuals. We recognize that we may not always agree with each other, but we commit to engaging in respectful dialogue and actively listening to each other's perspectives.
  5. Collaboration: We believe that collaboration is essential to achieving our goals. We work together as a team, leveraging our collective strengths to create meaningful change in our communities.
  6. Education: We believe that education is essential to achieving our mission. We commit to ongoing learning and self-reflection to deepen our understanding of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  7. Accountability: We acknowledge that we have a responsibility to hold ourselves and our communities accountable for creating a more just and equitable society. We commit to taking action and holding ourselves and others accountable for creating meaningful change.
