Hello Stratfield!

Can you believe it’s already the middle of October? What a wonderfully full handful of weeks we’ve had since school started.

We’ve got lots to share for this coming week, so let’s get to it.

Early Dismissal tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13th at 1:00pm (Note that this is earlier than the regular early dismissal.) Looking ahead, students will have early dismissal on Tuesday, October 20th at 1:00pm as well.

The final numbers are in for our Walkathon fundraising…WE DID IT! We raised $19,651. Can you believe it?! This is an incredible achievement and such a sign of the generous spirit of our entire community. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The next PTA Board Meeting is this Wednesday, October 14th at 7:00pm, and will be held at Stratfield. All are welcome! Regular agenda items will be shared via email and in our Facebook group on Wednesday morning, along with a Zoom link for those who would like to join remotely. 

Along with our regular meeting agenda, we’ll be joined by Fairfield Board of Ed Member Jackie Bardenwerper. She will give a brief overview of how the BOE works and answer community questions related to educational policy. All are welcome to join this conversation, and feel free to send your questions to president.stratfieldpta@gmail.com ahead of the meeting if you’re not able to attend!

Above and Beyond (our awesome afterschool enrichment program) starts next Monday, October 19th! Remember to update your child’s dismissal instructions in School Dismissal Manager to "Above and Beyond"! Questions about the programs or logistics? Evening Conference Playcare is back! Attention Stratfield Dads…our very own Dad-Inspired childcare program (held during evening teacher conferences) is back on October 20th from 5-8 pm, and we are looking for volunteer caregivers to join the ranks. To volunteer, please text SES Parent Chris Fernald at 860-836-8826. Registration for kiddo attendance will be available next week.

Drumroll please….TRUNK OR TREAT HAS RETURNED! Stratfield’s very own Trunk-or-Treat is back and brighter than ever (literally, the event team has spotlights!). Join us on Friday, October 30 from 6:00-7:30pm in the Stratfield School Parking Lot. Only 3 spots for decorated trunks remain, so sign up soon if you’d like to decorate. No sign-up is required for trick-or-treating kids.

'26-'27 Stratfield Elementary School PTA

Parents Meg Jean-Louis and Melissa Zwolinski for leading a fabulous Scholastic Book Fair and managing registration for Above and Beyond! We are so grateful for your hard work and attentiveness to creating positive student experiences with both of these beloved activities.

Lead Parent Rebecca Sullivan, and fellow Parents Noemie Lafaurie-Debany, Jeff Debany, and Erin Lichtenstein for putting together an awesome Bike Bus experience for SES students last Friday! 82 students signed up, and a whole bunch of parents rode and walked.

SES Staff Wendy Radovich, MaryJo French, and Nicki Callahan, for your incredibly generous logistical and administrative support of the Bike Bus. We couldn’t do it without you!

All of the School Safety Resource Officers (especially our very own Officer Fusco) and the Fairfield Police Department for escorting our student bikers to school safely on Friday during the Bike Bus!

Parents and PTA Board Members Amanda Chase, Julie Wilson, Allyson McGrath, Jessica Miller, Kristyn Miller, Beth Guthrie, Shannon Pascone, and Sunil Purushotham for their generous meal donations in support of our monthly Operation Hope Meal Delivery. Huge thanks to Christine Marks for hand-delivering to the OH team last Friday.

Need childcare during evening parent‑teacher conferences?  Stratfield’s Playcare program will be open from 5–8 PM on Tuesday, October 20th in the gymnasium.  Kids can enjoy board games, homework help, and fun activities while parents meet with teachers.

We’re looking for a Program lead (or co-leads) for the 26-27 National PTA Reflections Program! This wonderful initiative offers students the opportunity to create original works of art inspired by an annual theme. This is a medium-sized commitment, but comes with a structured set of materials and guidance from the National PTA.
