President's Letter

Hello Stratfield families,

My name is Leslie Ford, and I am the PTA president for the 2021-2022 school year. I have been a member of the executive board for several years and have chaired a variety of events and committees over the years, including Family Fair, the Directory, and the Memorial Day Parade. I have been a parent at Stratfield School for over 12 years! I have four children ranging in age from 16 to 9. I am hoping that all of this experience will help me as I lead the PTA.

While we know this school year will not be “back to normal,” the PTA hopes to provide enrichment activities and community-building events for our families, despite certain limitations. Our amazing volunteers on the executive board are hard at work planning events and visits that meet the Board of Education’s COVID requirements. Events that have recently occurred or are upcoming include:

  • Teacher Back-to-School Luncheon, which took place last week
  • Tears and Cheers Coffee, which took place on the first day of school
  • New Parent Reception—Sunday, September 26—details and invites coming ASAP
  • Picture Day—September 24
  • Operation Hope—meals organized and provided monthly by Stratfield families
  • Membership—We invite you to join the PTA!

This is just the start of what we do, and these events do not take place without volunteers! Everything that we do as a PTA is reliant on eager and organized volunteers who lead events. Keep an eye out for volunteer opportunities in the Sunday e-newsletter, or if you have new ideas, let me know!

I am excited to lead the PTA this year and look forward to seeing new faces as we navigate yet another interesting school year. What is most important is that our Stratfield staff feels supported and that our children have fun.

Reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Here’s to great 2021-2022!
